With the advent of the 10-day DL, I strongly believe that we should look at changing the amount of DL slots available (by two spots), or increasing the amount of bench spots, also by two spots.

With teams already placing players on the 60-day DL for the 2018 season (Joe Ross as an example), I don't believe that these players should count against the offseason MLB keeper total as well.

I would be okay with increasing the DL slots, but not the bench slots.

Agree. Leave as is.

Waivers/FA is already tight enough. Tough decisions are necessary if you have lots of injuries. We all face it. The add of the 10 day DL at least allows us to DL them at least. Used to be they'd linger on our regular rosters.

Probably chiming in late on this one, but adding two DL spots means there could be as many as 40 fewer players to choose on the WW. I've been in leagues where there are as many as 5 DL or much more added bench spots than we currently play with, and it's nearly impossible to improve your team if you are in the middle or bottom of the pack.

I would propose that we add 1 DL spot.

There is a significant amount more of DL time compared to a few years ago and our rules requires guys to come off the DL immediately, so while it could limit who is available by 20 more players, it wouldn't be for an extended period of time most likely.

Also, I'd argue with 500+ MLB players on rosters already, and assumably the 400 best MILB players - the difference between the 501st best MLB player or 521st MLB player isn't going to be that signicant.

No. We canít decrease the player pool.

And this is from last year. We probably should have cleared this out earlier. Not that we canít revisit stuff.

We didn't vote on anything last year though.

It's faulty logic. So, now that MLB has a more lenient DL policy so we don't have to keep injured guys on our active roster, but now can stash players on DL, we need more DL spots. Why didn't you ask for more active roster spots a few years ago before they had more lenient policy on DL use?

Because you wouldnít have 8 guys on the DL at once.

You missed the point.

That is correct, but you'd have 5 guys that the ML teams couldn't DL because of longer periods that would be sitting on your roster. So, no difference. You have 28 spots including 3 DL. In the past it could be worse because fewer would go on DL, so you wouldn't even be able to use those spots while guys lingered for a week or 2 not playing.

Same number of spots. Same number of injuries. Just a matter of leniency of ML DL rules that actually give us MORE flexibility if anything. Players didn't start getting hurt more (well, reduction of PEDs, but let's not go there...)

I think this in general would be less of an issue if teams actually didn't hide rookie mlb players down in their minors. I know we have some limits in place but until the initial call up happens, it is hard to protect against. I am guessing that we probably have about 40-60 mlb types residing in the minors on our squads right now. Given that, I am against the DL increases unless we make a counter change to the minor league limits.
