I don't want anything to do with the award winners. At least the statistical leaders are in the hands of us because to win that category you have to play that player. For the award winners, you'd just have to roster them.

My thoughts are the same, Cats are under team control (even if slightly random at times).

Also if we stick with Fantrax after this year, that portion of the league fee that used to go to that is paid off so some extra money would be available or we could just reduce our yearly fee and keep what we have.

What categories even get paid out? Not very clear.

The 12 statistical cats that we use each week for scoring. AVG, R, RBI, HR, SB, BB and W, SV, HLD, Ks, ERA, Whip.

Leave as is.  

Do not do award winners.  Especially made up ones like the Trevor Hoffman and comeback player awards.  Those are the dumbest awards ever.

If anything, I'd prefer to get creative on something that a terrible team could still conceivably play for in the last couple months of the season to provide incentive to pay attention.

EDIT: And my last suggestion is going to be near impossible to devise b/c I don't want it to be giveaway money to the losing teams. It has to be something everyone is equally eligible for, but something they may be able to compete for regardless of how the first 4 or 5 months of the season went. That's why I liked the old way we used to do the categories where it wasn't entire season, but 3 stats for each segment of the season. So, in the last 2 months the last place team could go all out to dominate saves (example) so they can still get $20 of their $65 entry fee even though they've sucked the rest of the way.
